Saksham – Basic Education for Children
Education
“Every child capable, every dream possible.”
Hari Prem Society believe that every child deserves the right to quality education, regardless of their socio-economic background. Saksham—meaning “capable” in Hindi—is our flagship initiative dedicated to ensuring that children from marginalized and underprivileged communities are not left behind in their early learning years. We recognize that basic education is the cornerstone of personal growth, social mobility, and national development. However, countless children across rural and urban India continue to face barriers such as poverty, lack of infrastructure, social discrimination, and gender-based challenges that hinder their access to even primary education.
Through Saksham, we focus on creating a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking skills for children aged 6 to 18, with special emphasis on first-generation learners and those at risk of dropping out. Our approach combines classroom-based support with community-driven learning spaces, offering bridge courses, remedial education, and interactive, activity-based teaching methods that make learning enjoyable and effective. We work hand-in-hand with government schools, local educators, parents, and volunteers to identify learning gaps, track student progress, and create an ecosystem where every child is encouraged to thrive.
The program also integrates values education, creative expression, and digital literacy to help children become well-rounded individuals. We ensure that children not only acquire academic knowledge but also develop life skills such as communication, empathy, resilience, and self-confidence. Our out reach includes organizing learning camps, support, and awareness drives to address the holistic needs of the child. Special attention is given to supporting girls’ education, reducing absenteeism, and reintegrating school dropouts through customized learning pathways.
By empowering children with the basic tools of learning, Saksham aspires to break the vicious cycle of illiteracy and poverty. It is not just an education program—it is a movement to ignite young minds, awaken aspirations, and lay the groundwork for a more equitable and enlightened society. Hari Prem Society envision a future where every child is truly saksham—capable of dreaming, achieving, and leading with purpose.
